Can ONE thing alone cure you?

Can ONE thing alone cure you?

Homeopathy is a wonderful medicine. I have seen a single remedy stop a 6 week severe croup in 24 hours; a client release 12 years of pent up shock that allowed her to heal; and prescribed a single one dose medicine to an Aspergers boy whose severe aggression abated and he transformed into a manageable, happy chappie…..

But it doesn’t always work like this, and in this article I want to take a look at some of the reasons why that might be.

Longterm chronic Illness

Often people who have been chronically ill for a long time may try Homeopathy as a last resort. This means they have had multiple drug interventions beforehand and often have a long list of iatrogenic symptoms (that means caused by the drugs rather than their condition). In this case the Homeopath will need to try and determine what the symptoms were BEFORE they started having drug side effects because these reflect the imbalance that needs to be cured. other drug ‘side effects’ have been grafted onto the patient from the drug, and do not accurately reflect their condition.

Emotional/mental blockages

Severe emotional and mental shock can be stored within the body at a physical level. In other words, emotional needs can get expressed as physical symptoms. This is why it is very important to work on the whole person. Sometimes emotional trauma is so deep and so repressed, that some deep emotional therapy is required before the physical illness can be healed. Sometimes the homeopath’s training allows this great ‘elephant’ in the room to be identified early on and a well selected homeopathic medicine can start the slow emotional healing process. Often with severe childhood trauma the patient will benefit from additional therapy.

Diet

It does not matter what brilliant prescribing a Homeopath does, if the patient’s diet is full of junk food then their body cannot heal because it does not have the nutrients it needs to achieve healing. In Homeopathy we refer to this as a ‘maintaining cause’ which means that there is a constant reason for the body to fail to heal itself.

Referrals

To be in a position as a Homeopath to enable a client’s healing is a humbling privilege. Part of the responsibility of having this privilege is to recognize when Homeopathy is not achieving the healing effects that either the patient or the Homeopath expects. When this happens the best prescription is a referral to either another Homeopath for a fresh perspective, or to another modality such as acupuncture for example. Sometimes the relationship between a Homeopath and their patient is just not conducive to healing for that patient and the recognition of this is an important element of a good homeopathic practice.

Other Holistic therapies

Sometimes it is the case with chronic illness that a patient will require several different approaches at the same time on their path to wellness. Sometimes these different modalities are happening at the same time and sometimes they take place one after another and each contribute to the full state of wellness that the patient eventually achieves. This is why Homeopaths always network with other treatment individuals so they can suggest and offer options to speed the patient on their road to vibrant health.

So you can see that sometimes it is not just ONE thing that stimulates a patient to health. Homeopathy like any holistic therapy, is only as good as the practitioner who is prescribing it as well as the relationship they have with their patients.

Remember, that ultimately your health problems are about YOU, as are your health successes…so work with what feels right, trust your intuition and if you come to Homeopathy, then I wish you vibrant, healthy success with it!
